Motorist Assistance
Because accidents happen
If you lock your keys in your car, run out of gas, or have a dead battery while parked on university property, help is just one phone call away.
Monday through Friday, just call us at 812-855-9849 and ask for Motorist Assistance. Service is not provided on Saturdays, Sundays, or during university holidays.
This service is free up to three times per academic year and is $50 for each additional call.
IU students, faculty, staff, and visitors conducting legitimate business on campus are eligible for this service. The vehicle must be properly parked in a legitimate parking space and, if required, display a valid parking permit. We do not service motorcycles or scooters
Please note that we do not provide towing or aid to motorcycles, scooters, or vehicles in an off-campus location.

The program assists with basic services like:
- Dead batteries
- Flat tires
- Empty gas tanks
- Keys locked in the vehicle
Hours
Academic Year:
7 a.m.–10 p.m., Monday–Thursday
7 a.m.–7 p.m., Friday
Summer Session:
7 a.m.–8 p.m. Monday–Thursday
7 a.m.–6 p.m., Friday.
IU Ride
IU Ride is a university-sponsored organization that is staffed entirely by students serving the IU community. We help students, staff, and even faculty get free, safe rides home at the end of their day. Whether you're leaving the the library or a night on the town, we're here for you.
During fall and spring semesters we're available 8 p.m. to 1:45 a.m., 7 days a week, with reduced hours during the summer. Although we're not an emergency service, we try to respond as quickly as we can to people with urgent needs.
Emergency Ride Home (ERH)
If you’re a Hoosier Commuter Club member or participate in a university rideshare program, or have an employee value (EM-V) or Motorcycle (sticker only) permit you may quality for a free ride home in the event of a personal emergency.
